AustralianFootball.com Celebrating the history of the great Australian game
The Raiders endured a torrid time when they first entered the Ovens and Murray Football League in 1989, finishing last without managing a single win. Thereafter, however, they steadily improved, and in 1997 they reached their first grand final in which they gave a good account of themselves only to succumb in the end by 7 points to a more experienced and finals hardened Albury combination. A year later the Raiders took the ultimate step by claiming their first and, to date, only senior grade OMFL flag with an impressive 64 points grand final demolition of Lavington. The Raiders’ reserves have so far won half a dozen premierships, including three in succession between 1997 and 1999. Over the past decade the Raiders seniors have been fairly regular finalists without quite threatening to take out that elusive second OMFL flag.
